Role Purpose
The Legal Recoveries Administrator is responsible for the initial "gatekeeping" and validation of legal claims. You will be tasked with determining the viability of a case by analyzing merits and motor collision law, conducting deep-dive investigations/interviews, and utilizing tracing tools to locate third parties. Your goal is to ensure only valid, high-potential matters proceed, while professionally managing rejections for those that do not meet the necessary legal or merit-based criteria.
What will make you successful in this role?
Minimum Qualification Required
• Grade 12/Standard 10/NQF 4
• A relevant tertiary qualification (Law, Paralegal, or Short-Term Insurance) is highly beneficial.
• Experience in investigative interviewing or tracing is an advantage.
Minimum Experience
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in a Short-Term Insurance (STI) environment.
• 1 Year experience in handling Motor Claims merits and/or Legal Recoveries.
• Experience in investigative interviewing or tracing is an advantage.
Deliverables include, but will not be limited to
• Claim Validation & Rooting: Speedily assess incoming legal claims to determine validity and route them to the correct specialist teams.
• Merit Analysis: Apply sound knowledge of Motor Vehicle Collision law and the Apportionment of Damages Act to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a claim.
• Rejection Management: Attend to "no-proceed" matters by clearly communicating rejections to stakeholders based on lack of merit or legal standing.
• Investigative Interviews: Conduct professional interviews with clients, witnesses, and third parties to gather critical evidence and clarify accident descriptions.
• Tracing & Lead Following: Utilize specialized tracing tools and digital footprints to locate third parties and uncover leads essential for the legal process.
• Efficiency Standards: Ensure all "Front Office" actions meet strict service quality standards and internal SLAs to prevent bottlenecks.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain professional communication with brokers, clients, and internal departments regarding the status of initial investigations.
Competencies Required
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex accident scenarios and identify liability accurately.
• Investigative Mindset: Naturally curious with a "detective" approach to following leads and finding information.
• Legal Literacy: Strong understanding of motor collision law and the Apportionment of Damages Act.
• Conflict Resolution: Ability to handle difficult conversations, particularly when delivering claim rejections.
• Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for reporting and interviewing.
• Time Management: Ability to "root" claims speedily without sacrificing quality in a high-pressure environment.
• Tech Savvy: Proficiency in using tracing software and internal claims management systems.
