What will you do?
Up for a new challenge in managing our Legal Claims Department, we are looking for your proven track record in Legal STI claims and middle management experience.
The Claims Legal General Manager is responsible for managing the operations of a single call centre or business segment. In this role the GM oversees operating systems including policies, procedures, and operating structure. Establishes and implements product/service standards, responsible for analysing operations and efficiency of the call centre. May build industry relations, communicating technologies, and operational concerns through industry networking. Also needs to obtain new campaigns from internal clients and builds the credibility of the call centre with potential clients.
Minimum Qualification Required
- Grade 12/Standard 10/NQF 4
- Applicable Law Degree
- Any applicable post-matric qualifications will be advantageous.
Minimum Experience
- Proven track record with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Legal claims in the Short-Term Insurance Industry for Personal Lines and Commercial Insurance
- Minimum 3 years’ middle management experience in Legal claims
- Solid understanding of Claims Legal procedures & processes
Deliverables include, but will not be limited to
- Oversee the Legal Department’s performance, operations, reports, system developments and projects pertaining to Personal Lines and Commercial Insurance, Disputed Claims, Legal Recoveries & Liabilities (Subrogation),
- Litigation, SASRIA Recoveries, Broadform Liabilities, Tracker Warranty Recoveries, Service Provider Recoveries and Client Recoveries, etc.
- Oversee MiWay’s Legal Firms’ performance, legal costs and other expenses.
- Manage Manex and Loss Ratio relating to the Legal Department
- Reviewing policy wording amendments and scripting changes in conjunction with Corporate Legal and Risk & Compliance
- Monitoring Risk and Compliance pertaining to the Risk register for the Legal Department
- General Legal Support to Claims Department, Legal, Investigations, Disputes, Business Insurance, Procurement and Assessing

- Ability to lead and motivate a Legal team of leaders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record in a leadership position.
- Legal middle management experience.
- Good analytical ability.
- Attention to detail and able to work under pressure.
