What will you do?

We're looking for a talented, passionate Front-End Developer to work on MiWay’s ever-growing technology-stack and applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and developing world-class solutions withina cross-functional team. We're looking for a developer to contribute towards sustainable, intuitive, and functional solutions that meet business needs. The candidate will have an impact on the technical direction of our applications and shape the success of the customer experience.  
Our department’s purpose is to Deploy working software, that adds business value, daily. To achieve this, we require team members to be open and comfortable with active participation in  reviewing code and standards, supporting production to maintain its stability and have a good problem-solving approach to understand and solve a wide range of issues. We are all professionals sharing the same purpose so we should not intend offence or take offence when communicating, especially when handling constructive criticism from one another. We hold each other accountable so we can support and grow each other.  

What will make you successful in this role?

Minimum Qualification Required  

  • Computer science or engineering qualification. 

 

Minimum Experience  

  • 4+ years of development experience in software development.  
  • Working experience with PHP related projects with exposure to PHP 7.4 or greater  
  • Knowledge of MVC orientated PHP frameworks (with additional preference to Symfony 5  or greater)  
  • Good understanding and working experience with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks  and libraries (with additional preference to Vue.js, Nuxt.js and jQuery) 
  • Experience with user interface design and reporting on key user experience metrics.
  • Experience with browser-based debugging and performance testing software.  
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture.  
  • Good understanding of software development design patterns.  
  • Understanding of software systems used in the development process: Code versioning (Git), Release management (Bitbucket & Bamboo) and Issue Tracking (JIRA).  

Deliverables include, but will not be limited to

  • Plan, design & develop solutions within a team.  
  • Perform a wide range of development tasks on the mobile, desktop and API platforms, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.  
  • Conduct or assist with code quality reviews of solutions.  
  • Conduct or assist with troubleshooting and debugging of developed solutions in  development and production environments.  
  • Attend and provide input in team and stakeholder meetings relating to technical and  architecture requirements.  
  • Conduct internal knowledge sharing sessions on developed solutions and best practices.  
  • Contribute towards well documented, quality, tested and reusable code, ensuring development is followed through to completion that is in accordance with team   
    standards and the solution specification.

  • Good understanding of interaction design, user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of user experience principles, techniques, and patterns.  
  • Good verbal & written communication skills with the ability to engage with a variety of  roles.  
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed when needed.  
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with a passion for collaboration.  
  • Solution-driven with the ability to adapt to change.
