What will you do?

The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for leading and driving process optimisation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across the short-term insurance value chain. 

This role focuses on diagnosing complex business problems, designing scalable and efficient processes, and embedding performance management practices that improve cost efficiency, service delivery, and customer outcomes. Working closely with operations, underwriting, claims, call centre, finance, and technology teams, the role ensures that business processes are aligned to strategic objectives and are fit for a high-volume, regulated insurance environment.  
You will play a key role in applying industrial engineering principles, data-driven analysis, and change management practices to support sustainable operational excellence.  

Minimum Requirements

Qualification Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related quantitative discipline.   
• Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Business Process Management are advantageous. 

Minimum Experience

• 6+ years’ experience in an Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or Business Optimisation   
role.  
• Proven experience within Short-Term Insurance, Financial Services, or a comparable regulated,   
high-volume service environment.  
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale process improvement and operational efficiency   
initiatives.  
• Experience working in complex, cross-functional operational environments.  

Deliverables

The Senior Industrial Engineer will be a key contributor in improving operational performance and delivery across MiWay. Key deliverables include:  


Process Optimisation: Analyse, design, and implement end-to-end process improvements across underwriting, claims, contact centre, and supporting functions.  
Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost-to-serve, improve turnaround times, and increase throughput.  
Performance Measurement: Define and implement process performance metrics, capacity models, and productivity measures aligned to business outcomes.  
Continuous Improvement: Lead and embed Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.  
Change Enablement: Support operational change initiatives through stakeholder engagement, impact assessments, and benefits realisation tracking.

Competencies Required

• Strong understanding of industrial engineering principles, process design, and optimisation methodologies.  
• Advanced analytical skills, including process mapping, capacity modelling, and root-cause analysis.  
• Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement frameworks.  
• Strong understanding of insurance operational processes and regulatory considerations.  
• Ability to translate data and analysis into practical, implementable business solutions.  
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills across multiple levels of the organisation.
