What will you do?

Santam’s Finance Solutions IT Team is looking for a Solutions Architect with strong systems integration skills, the position will be based at the Head Office in Bellville.

The incumbent will work as part of our Financial Solutions Platform team consisting of an already existing Solution Architect, Business Architect, Enterprise BA, and Systems Architect. This role will focus on integration but will require understanding and knowledge of the underlying Financial System technologies and architecture to support well designed solutions that are integrated according to Santam standards and utilizing best practise methods and technologies in the Finance landscape.
The successful candidate will work with the architecture team to model processes and integrations and present these to the relevant forums as part of the overall governance process. 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Understands how the business requirements can be met using the implemented package solutions, or defines what additional application software packages and / or bespoke code is needed
• Leads the design and configuration of the Financial Systems application software
• Leads any bespoke application development in the primary Finance landscape
• Consults in the provision of cost estimates
• Ensuring the alignment of projects to target application architecture.
• Assessment of the impact of application change and new releases
• Defines integration from and to Financial Systems
• Collaborates with Development Managers and other technical staff, to ensure applications are implemented according to requirements.
• Identification of potential risks / issues and give input into risk plan

GENERIC FUNCTIONS

• Ensures that the Financial Systems solutions are aligned to Finance ERP best practise and Santam architecture strategies in support of business strategies
• Provides advice and consultancy across the project team on strategies and architecture
• Participates in reviews and provides guidance to teams to ensure that the architecture principles are followed
• Establishes and participates in design reviews, regular architectural reviews and technical issue management meetings
• Ensures that design is optimised for use on the organisations infrastructure
• Supports members of the Development and Project Management team as required
• Develops and maintains a deep understanding of the internal workings of software packages in the financial domain
• Works effectively in a team with other Solution Architects, Business Architects and Lead Developers to consider design alternatives and agree on appropriate design decisions in support of business requirements

INTEGRATION FUNCTIONS
• Owns, maintains and publicizes interfaces between financial and external systems.
• Facilitates design and implementation of interfaces between Financial and external systems.
• Reviews designs to avoid duplication and proliferation of interfaces.
• Defines messaging architecture and standards

QUALITY ASSURANCE

• Reviews agreed implementation to ensure correct interpretation of the requirements,  architecture and strategies
• Ensures adequate testing of configuration or bespoke development.
• Facilitate and lead the quality assurance processes for design and development to ensure the ongoing integrity of the Financial domain

What will make you successful in this role?

• Relevant Tertiary IT qualification or qualification through experience
• 8 - 12 years’ IT development experience
• 8-12 years ERP and Financial System configuration
• Expert Knowledge of ERP and Financial Systems
• Exposure to Object Oriented design and Java development
• Application of IT governance principles
• Experience in application development, support and release management
• Experience in integration protocols – SOAP and API
• Experience in systems development upper life cycle quality assurance
• Oracle JDE experience required
• Experience on multiple projects simultaneously and independently
• Application of IT governance principles

Qualification and Experience

Degree or Diploma with 8 to 10 years related experience.
