Who are we?

The Sanlam Life and Savings Office provides strategic direction, coordination and support to the three clusters, as well as performing governance oversight that includes assurance provided by second line of defense functions in SLS, to enable us to meet our business objectives.

What will you do?

This is a specialist management support role within a business unit that does not have any direct reports. This role assists and advises managers on the financial implications of business decisions to aid growth and profit. Responsibilities of the job include: compiling and managing a budget, account payments, expense and/or debt management, preparing financial reports and statement, commentaries, payroll, undertaking financial administration and internal audits. 

What will make you successful in this role?

The key performance areas of this role and tasks include the following:

  • Preparation of Monthly expense reports, forecasting and variance analysis for selected business units
  • Preparation of annual budgets for the cost centres within the selected business units and provide feedback to cost centre owners
  • Approval of invoices
  • Preparation of monthly reconciliations
  • Provide information to expenses as part of the annual audit process

 

The successful incumbent will need to have:

  • Knowledge of basic and relevant accounting principles
  • Knowledge of basic Value-added Tax (VAT) Legislation.

Qualification and Experience

Degree or Diploma with at least 3 years related experience.
