The Group Office is responsible for the Group’s centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial, Risk management, Information Technology, Human Resources, Market Development and Brand Services.

What will you do?

The Sanlam Group Risk Management Function strives to be a trusted, agile and independently minded business partner, generating timely and forward-looking group-wide risk insight to enhance business and financial resilience and sustainable client-centric value creation.

You will provide technical support for timely and effective claims and risk financing for the risk management program. Ensures compliance with state regulations and prepares summary claims report. Identifies options and provides recommendations for the design and development of risk management information systems. Utilises data management and spreadsheet capabilities to assist in identifying loss trends, administering current programs and responding to customer requests.

What will make you successful in this role?

  • Group Risk Reporting and Insights: Assist with the co-ordination, consolidation and preparation of quarterly internal Group ORSA and other risk reporting, with appropriate supporting analysis and commentary.
  • Assist with group-level regulatory reporting, data requests and regulatory applications and notifications.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual published Capital and Risk Management disclosure
  • Assist with regular updating of the Group ERM Framework policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Support the development of group-wide assessment of emerging risk, risk scenarios and deep-dives.
  • Assist the Group Application owner and cluster CROs with the implementation and embedment of the BWise Risk Management System across the group.
  • Assist with the development of Risk Insight reporting from the BWise Risk Management system.

Qualification, Knowledge & Experience

  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary

or

  • Qualified CA(SA) with 2-3 years post qualifying experience preferably within Insurance industry

or

  • Similar risk management qualification.

 

  • Insurance experience would be to your advantage as well as some exposure to Risk management, Actuarial and Insurance related concepts.
  • Ability to understand complex or technical concepts.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Exposure to Operational Risk concepts will be to your advantage.
