Who are we?

Sanlam Specialised Finance is housed in the Sanlam Investments Group Cluster and is a combination of Sanlam Capital Markets, Sanlam Structured Solutions and Sanlam Portfolio Management. This combination ensures that the businesses responsible for managing different aspects of the Sanlam balance sheet are housed together. Sanlam Specialised Finance works closely with the Balance Sheet Management function of Sanlam to assist the Balance Sheet Management Function in its pursuit of optimising the Sanlam balance sheet. The new structure is also expected to enhance risk management within Sanlam. Sanlam Specialised Finance business has two components; the first is an on-balance sheet financing business (similar to those found in the large South African investment banks) and the second is the Sanlam Portfolio Management team. The Sanlam Portfolio Management  team negotiates and maintains relevant mandates with Sanlam, and will determine an appropriate asset allocation for the Sanlam assets. This will include allocations to businesses within Sanlam Investments.

What will you do?

You will be responsible for the following;

  • Identifying training needs on an ogoing basis
  • Facilitation of technical training, as well as soft skills training as and when needed
  • The incorporation of gamification, e-learning, video’s etc. to enhance the learning experience
  • Assessment of learners during and after learning interventions to ensure competence
  • Providing support to learners in a professional, effective and efficient manner
  • Continuous feedback to learners and lie management with regard to training performance
  • Evaluate learning interventions oto ensure that latest methodologies are used and that the interventions meet the needs of operations
  • Develop training material according to business needs in line with general training practices, together with formative and summative assessments
  • Ensure that all training materials are relevant and up to date by revisiting and maintaining materials on an ongoing basis
  • Administer and maintain training records in accordance with SLA’s
What will make you successful in this role?
  • 3 – 5 year’s experience in the employee benefit / retirement funds and Group Risk industry
  • Technical training experience in a retirement fund / insurance environment will be advantageous
  • Completion of the ODETDP qualification will be an advantage
  • Experience in instructional design/technical writing will be advantageous
  • Experience in the development of e-learning material will be advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • A Wealth Management qualification will be an advantage
Qualification and Experience
Completion of a related course (possibly one or two year diploma) and some previous practical experience.
Grade 12 or Diploma with 3 to 5 years related experience.
