Compliance Officer (Unit Trust)

What will you do?

The Compliance Officer will play a key part of Sanlam, by assisting to manage compliance risks. The position requires, amongst others, providing compliance related advice and recommendations to the business unit, draft documents & reports and interpreting legislation

What will make you successful in this role?

  • Interpret legislation, regulations, guidance notes and directives etc. to identify and assess compliance risks
  • Draft documents, processes, policies and procedures to address compliance risks
  • Implement processes, policies, procedures and controls to effectively manage compliance risks
  • Ensure that compliance processes, policies and procedures and controls are maintained
  • Consult with and provide recommendations with the business unit, to sufficiently address compliance deficiencies
  • Monitor and report on compliance risks
  • Attend to certain compliance reporting
  • Engagement with auditors and attend to compliance related aspects in audit reports
  • Engagement with regulators (attend at inspections and attend to enquiries/questionnaires/reports)
  • Ensure that the business unit staff complete the compliance related training and assessment

Qualification and Experience

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor Degree in Law
  • Admitted Attorney (would be an advantage)
  • Experience in compliance risk management environment (would be an advantage)
  • Diploma / Certificate in Compliance Management (would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge and insight of legislation and compliance risk management (would be an advantage)
     

Knowledge and Skills

Excellent English (verbal & written) language skills - an additional local Namibian language will be an advantage.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong administrative and operational skills & knowledge.
Pro-active, problem solving and goal oriented.
Computer literate: MS Office, Word, Excel and company’s software.
Detail-oriented, good interpersonal skills and good at time management and multi-tasking.
Administrative oriented and skilled at problem identification and problem solving.
