What will you do?

 

As a Spring Boot Developer, you will work within an Agile team to design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications and services. You will collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, contribute to sprint planning and delivery, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The role includes ensuring high-quality, secure code through testing and code reviews, supporting CI/CD and cloud-native deployments, and leveraging AI-powered engineering tools to enhance productivity, solution quality, and innovation. You will also contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of best practices across the development lifecycle.

 

  • Attend and contribute to daily stand-ups and other agile ceremonies.
  • Liaise with the Business Analysts to determine / understand business requirements.
  • Assist with breakdown of tasks from business requirements.
  • Deliver on sprint commitments.
  • Contribute to team planning, discussions and solution designs.
  • Constructively communicate in a way that would add to valuable solutions.
  • Take guidance from and support the team lead.
  • Report accurately on progress both within the systems and directly to your team lead.
  • Document solutions and assist others in doing their documentation.
  • Share knowledge with team members.
  • Adhere to coding quality standards including unit and integration testing requirements.
  • Highlight Technical Debt reduction opportunities and be comfortable with code and security scanning tools (e.g. SonarQube, Veracode) to highlight code improvement opportunities.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments.
  • Leverage Agentic AI technologies and AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity and solution quality.
  • Utilize AI agents for requirements analysis, code generation, testing, documentation, code reviews, troubleshooting, and modernization initiatives.
  • Help establish responsible AI engineering practices, standards, governance, and security controls.
  • Assist the team’s FINOPS champion with optimization opportunities.

What will make you successful in this role?

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Computer Science. 
  • Java Certification and/or AWS Cloud certifications will be an advantage.

 

Experience:

 

  • At least 3 years' experience developing and maintaining applications using the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and related frameworks.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with internal and external services.
  • Experience in working with source control, build, and dependency management tools such as Git, Gradle, and Nexus.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams and participating in sprint planning, estimation, design discussions, and retrospectives.
  • At least 5 years' software development experience within enterprise application environments.
  • Experience in working with relational databases and SQL, including data modelling, query optimization, and ORM technologies such as JPA/Hibernate.
  • Experience in implementing automated unit, integration, and component testing using frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams and participating in sprint planning, estimation, design discussions, and retrospectives.
  • Experience in contributing to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation practices.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • High level understanding of Java full stack.
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, secure coding practices, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Good understanding of Enterprise Test Methodology (Automation).
  • Strong proficiency in Java, including object-oriented design principles, concurrency, exception handling, and application performance considerations.
  • Understanding of AWS Cloud technologies.
  • Understanding of project management principles and deployment process in the development phase.
  • Knowledge of relevant program languages, documentation frameworks, tools and standards.
