What will you do?

 

About the Role:

 

  • We are seeking Analyst Developer (Java/ Springboot) to join our Technology Shared Applications team.
  • The successful candidate will join an established project team that is replacing the existing legacy Tax solution with a 3rd party SaaS solution called EBTax. 
  • Experience in using AI to accelerate development delivery and integration will be beneficial.

 

Output/Core Tasks:

 

  • Attend and contribute to daily stand-ups and other agile ceremonies.
  • Assist with breakdown of tasks from business requirements.
  • Accurately track time within the systems provided on a daily basis.
  • Deliver on sprint commitments.
  • Contribute to team planning, discussions and solution designs.
  • Constructively communicate in a way that would add to valuable solutions.
  • Take guidance from and support the team lead.
  • Report accurately on progress both within the systems and directly to your team lead.
  • Document solutions and assist others in doing their documentation.
  • Share knowledge with team members.
  • Adhere to coding quality standards including unit and integration testing requirements.
  • Assist with the deployment and monitoring of the developed systems in testing and production environments.

Requirements:

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Relevant Computer Science degree or diploma
  • Honours or postgraduate degree preferred
  • Java Certification will be advantageous

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within application development in Java
  • Minimum 4 years working experience in J2EE
  • Java Programming: Strong understanding of Java, including object-oriented principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Practical experience with Java Server Pages, Servlets, Stateless Session Beans, JDBC, Java Messaging Service.
  • Spring Framework: In-depth knowledge of the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data.
  • RESTful APIs: Experience in exposing and consuming RESTful web services.
  • Experience with the following tools will be an advantage: IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ Series, Eclipse or WebSphere Application Developer
  • DevOps Tools: Knowledge and experience of tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, and Gradle for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Microservices Architecture: Familiarity with microservices architecture design patterns will be highly advantageous.
  • Unit Testing: Experience with testing frameworks like JUnit and Mockito
  • Experience in Scaled Agile Framework and development principles will be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD principles; and,
  • Exposure to GIT, Gradle, Nexus, JIRA and Confluence will be advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of Object-Orientation
  • UML experience will be an advantage
  • Relational Database experience: (Experience with SQL Server development and Proficiency with JPA/Hibernate for database interactions will be an advantage.
  • Experience with RCP development will be an advantage.
  • Financial Services knowledge and Experience in working with life insurance financial applications (recommended)
