This role supports the Sanlam Fintech business. Sanlam Fintech’s focus is to drive the convergence of a single ecosystem that incorporates financial guidance, rewards, non-intermediated product offerings and seamless payment capabilities to deliver the integrated digital experience that today’s client expects - by building, partnering & managing, through the use of leading-edge technologies, a deep data-led and high customer-engagement, digital and non-intermediated, Pan-African financial services business of profitable scale; and driving the digitalisation and future-proofing of the entire Sanlam Group business and operating models.
What will you do?
- Advising and providing guidance to management on systems, policies, processes and controls implemented to enable compliance
- Analysing and interpreting regulation and legislation and using a risk-based approach
- Identification and risk rating of applicable laws and regulations for responsible business units
- Development and implementation of compliance/legislative universe for responsible business units
- Development and implementation of Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs) for core legislative and regulatory provisions
- Compiling monitoring plans indicating the compliance monitoring methodology used and the frequency thereof
- Compiling monitoring reports on the results of monitoring
- Incident reporting, to ensure timeous escalation of compliance risks and incidents
- Interpreting regulation and legislation and assisting business units with practical implementation thereof
- Researching and communicating applicable legislative developments to all stakeholders
- Assisting with the promotion of a culture of compliance and awareness within SFT and actively participating in compliance projects and training initiatives
- Providing training on regulatory requirements to SFT businesses
Role Requirements
Qualifications:
- A legal or commercial degree
- Compliance qualification and/or designation (PG Diploma in Compliance Management and/or CPrac (SA)) would be advantageous
- Meeting the competence, qualifications and experience requirements to be registered as a Compliance Officer with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority would be advantageous
Experience & Knowledge:
- 3-6 years’ experience as a Compliance Officer in the Financial Services Industry
- Knowledge of the financial services industry
- A thorough understanding and knowledge of compliance risk management and monitoring programmes
- Experience in a Fintech/Digital environment would be advantageous
- A thorough understanding and knowledge of the regulatory requirements impacting on the various businesses (e.g., FAIS, FICA, Insurance Act, LTIA, PPR, POPIA) would be advantageous
