What Is Your Role?


The HIV Medical Administrator provides confidential and accurate administrative support for HIV-related underwriting cases within the Medical Division. The role ensures efficient coordination of HIV-positive policy applications, facilitates communication between clients, healthcare providers, and counselling partners, maintains accurate records and reporting, and upholds medical confidentiality and regulatory compliance. By supporting the underwriting process and providing appropriate communication and guidance to policyholders, the role contributes to the timely and effective issuance of new business policies.

 

  • Administer and process HIV-positive underwriting cases, ensuring accurate case allocation, coding, record maintenance, and documentation management.
  • Communicate HIV-related underwriting requirements and outcomes to clients, medical practitioners, counsellors, and external stakeholders in line with company protocols.
  • Manage and review HIV-related medical and laboratory information, support underwriters with additional medical requests, and escalate complex cases when required.
  • Maintain accurate case records, management information, statistical data, and reporting to support business and operational requirements.
  • Ensure strict compliance with medical confidentiality, POPIA, regulatory requirements, and company policies, while maintaining complete audit trails and confidentiality of all client information.

  • Strong administrative and data management skills, including accurate record keeping, data capturing, report preparation, and proficiency in relevant computer systems.
  • Good understanding of medical documentation and underwriting-related processes to ensure accurate case administration.

What will make you successful in this role?

Qualifications:

 

  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (advantageous)


Experience:

 

  • 1-3 years' administrative experience in the insurance, medical, healthcare, underwriting, or financial services environment.
  • Exposure to long-term insurance administration will be advantageous.
  • Experience handling confidential client information.
  • Medical or underwriting administration experience will be beneficial.


Knowledge:

 

  • Basic understanding of long-term insurance principles.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements relating to medical information.
  • Knowledge of HIV testing processes and laboratory reporting would be advantageous.
  • Computer literacy and experience with policy administration systems.
