What will you do?

 

The HR Business Partner for “Technology Talent” will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing people strategies that enable Sanlam’s Technology function to attract, grow, and retain top-tier technical talent in the SRS business. This role partners closely with leaders across IT delivery to build a high-performing, engaged and future-fit workforce.

 

The HRBP will act as an advisor and hands-on partner, ensuring that HR practices are tailored to the unique needs of technology professionals and aligned to agile ways of working.

Outputs / Core Tasks:

 

  • Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
    • Lead full-cycle recruitment for technical roles, from workforce planning to onboarding.
    • Develop sourcing strategies for niche tech skills using platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub and tech communities.
    • Manage interview logistics, including scheduling, panel preparation and candidate experience.
    • Conduct CV screening and competency-based interviews.
    • Provide market insights on tech talent trends, salary benchmarks and competitor activity.
    • Partner with hiring managers to define role profiles and selection criteria.

 

  • Onboarding & Integration
    • Co-design onboarding journeys tailored to agile teams and technology environments.
    • Facilitate cultural assimilation and team integration for new hires.
    • Ensure onboarding accelerates productivity and embeds Sanlam’s tech values.
    • Partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless systems access and setup.

 

  • Talent Management & Development
    • Drive career pathing and growth frameworks for tech talent.
    • Support succession planning for critical roles in the technology team.
    • Promote internal mobility and cross-functional development.
    • Collaborate with L&D team to curate learning experiences aligned to tech competencies.

  • Performance Enablement
    • Coach managers on performance conversations, feedback loops and managing under-performance.
    • Use data to identify performance trends and recommend interventions.

 

  • Employee Engagement & Experience
    • Co-create engagement strategies that resonate with tech professionals (autonomy, mastery, purpose).
    • Use pulse surveys, feedback tools and listening sessions to surface needs and drive action.
    • Champion psychological safety, inclusion and innovation within tech teams.

 

  • Culture & Organisation Effectiveness
    • Facilitate cultural alignment across newly integrated tech teams into SRS.
    • Support operating model transitions, role clarity and team effectiveness.
    • Use change management tools to monitor cultural impact and cohesion.

 

  • Line Manager Enablement
    • Act as an advisor to line managers on team dynamics, conflict resolution and change leadership.
    • Provide guidance on HR policies.
    • Enable managers to lead high-performing, agile teams.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum 5 years HRBP experience, with at least 2 years supporting technology or digital teams.
  • Proven track record in HR delivery within agile, cloud or engineering environments and influencing senior stakeholders.
