What will you do?

 

IT Governance Standards and Policy Adoption

 

  • Ensure cluster adherence to Group IT Governance standards and drive adoption of Group governance policies.
  • Facilitate governance self-assessments, gap analysis and implementation plans.
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, communicating, rolling out and maintaining supplementary IT policies, standards, procedures and governance artefacts aligned with Group requirements and applicable regulatory expectations.

 

Governance Reporting and Leadership Support

 

  • Keep the CIO, IT Senior Managers and IT Leadership informed of governance activities, policies, risks and decisions.
  • Assist with reporting to Group Governance Forums and relevant IT leadership structures.
  • Support governance reporting on information security, operational resilience, technology risk, policy compliance and control effectiveness.

 

IT Risk Management and Escalation

 

  • Support maintenance and reporting of the IT Risk Register, including risk identification, assessment, escalation, treatment tracking and management review.
  • Assist with implementing and monitoring IT risk management practices aligned with Sanlam Group governance requirements and operational risk frameworks.
  • Monitor adherence to governance standards and escalate significant non-compliance, control weaknesses, overdue actions and emerging risks to the Internal Governance Officer and relevant leadership structures.

 

Audit, Remediation and Control Monitoring

 

  • Work with the CIO, IT Senior Managers and key stakeholders to facilitate internal and external IT audit execution.
  • Monitor and track remediation actions arising from audits, risk assessments, governance reviews, compliance assessments and management reviews to support timely closure.
  • Assist with oversight of key IT controls and control-effectiveness assessments to strengthen risk mitigation and audit readiness.

 

Stakeholder and Regulatory Coordination

 

  • Collaborate with Internal Governance, Information Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Operations and IT delivery teams to strengthen governance outcomes.
  • Assist clusters with IT service management activities.
  • Assist with regulatory and risk assessments relating to technology governance requirements applicable to South African financial services organisations.

What will make you successful in this role?

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Relevant qualification in either Information Systems, IT Governance, Risk management, Internal Audit or Compliance.

 

Experience:

 

  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience within a technology control environment with the focus on either Information Technology, IT Governance, IT Risk Management, Internal Audit, External IT Audit, Compliance or Information Security Governance.
  • Exposure to operational risk management practices within the financial services industry will be an advantage.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • IT risk management principles, methodologies and risk-reporting practices.
  • Internal control frameworks, governance processes and control-monitoring practices.
  • Interpret governance, risk, compliance and control requirements; and translating this into practical tracking and reporting activities.
  • Audit processes and issue-remediation tracking.
  • Information security governance principles and technology control environments.
  • South African financial-sector governance and regulatory expectations affecting technology environments.
