What will do?
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that wants to expand their reinsurance knowledge and experience.
This role will focus on the management of Sanlam’s Individual Life Reinsurance for Sanlam Risk and Savings, including
• Reinsurance strategy implementation
• Reinsurance operational support
• Reinsurance contract management
• Engaging with Sanlam Risk and Saving’s reinsurance partners.
This role will also support the Head of business development and Reinsurance on any reinsurance needs across SLS.
The individual will work closely with the Sanlam Risk and Savings teams and the Sanlam Life and Savings Actuarial team.
What will make you successful in this role?
Output/Core Tasks
Reinsurance:
• Support and continuously look at effective ways to implement the reinsurance strategy for Sanlam Risk and Savings. A balance should be struck between value add, simplicity and the necessary risk mitigation action
• Work closely with Sanlam Risk and Savings (SRS) Client Solutions, Sanlam Risk and Savings (SRS)Operations, Claims, Medical division, Finance and SLS Actuarial to manage the reinsurance requirements for SRS including providing input on reinsurance solutions for new products
• Providing reinsurance management information to business stakeholders
• Lead change initiatives on the Reinsurance system as the Business owner
• Provide operational support for planning and implementing new reinsurance transactions
• Ensure up to date and timeous reinsurance contracting
• Engage with Sanlam Risk and Saving’s reinsurers on operational matters and manage the relationships
• Engage and collaborate with SLS Actuarial on reinsurance pricing matters.
• Provide support to the Head of Business development and Reinsurance including:
- Assistance and production of the Reinsurance board and other business documentation together with business leaders
- Managing and executing the governance framework for reinsurance across the SLS cluster including leading contractual work relating to reinsurance
Role Requirements
Qualifications and experience:
• Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary with at least 3 years relevant experience in life insurance risk products.
• Good MS Office skills (Word, Excel)
Knowledge:
• Knowledge and understanding of Sanlam’s risk solutions.
• Reinsurance experience will be an advantage
