What will you do?

 

Role Purpose


The Technology Strategy Consultant acts as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the CTO, supporting CIOs across SLS to shape and deliver the technology strategy.


The role focuses on translating business ambition into clear technology direction, strategic viewpoints, and executable roadmaps, while advancing:

 

  • Cloud transformation and platform consolidation
  • Integration of acquisitions
  • Transition from project to product operating model
  • Cultural and ways-of-working evolution toward agile and modern delivery

 

Key Accountabilities

 

      1. Technology Strategy & Thought Leadership 

 

  • Research emerging technology trends and translate into SLS-relevant strategic POVs
  • Co-create technology strategy, roadmaps, and executive-ready proposals
  • Develop content including strategy papers, board packs, press releases, and industry viewpoints

 

      2. Executive Enablement & Strategic Support

 

  • Support CTO and CIOs with decision frameworks, insights, and structured recommendations
  • Act as a thinking partner, distilling complex topics into clear narratives
  • Prepare for and synthesise outputs from key executive engagements

     3. Transformation Alignment & Execution

 

  • Translate strategy into initiatives, roadmaps, OKRs, and measurable outcomes
  • Track progress across cloud migration, legacy decommissioning, and platform integration
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and execution gaps

 

     4. Operating Model Evolution

 

  • Drive shift from project-based delivery to product-centric models
  • Contribute to evolution of Agile PMO into Product & Value Management capability
  • Embed agile principles, value-based prioritisation, and governance

 

     5. Workshop Facilitation & Design

 

  • Facilitate technology, innovation, and strategy workshops
  • Lead JAD, MVP design sessions, and design sprints
  • Align stakeholders and accelerate decision-making

 

     6. Integration & Platform Strategy

 

  • Support integration of acquired businesses into the SLS technology landscape
  • Contribute to platform rationalisation and build/buy/partner decisions

 

     7. Cross-Functional Alignment

 

  • Align Technology, Product, Operations, Risk, and Finance
  • Ensure coherent execution across initiatives and avoid duplication

What will make you successful in this role?

 

Qualifications

 

  • Relevant undergraduate degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or Commerce (Information Systems / Finance / Economics) 
  • Postgraduate qualification preferred, particularly an MBA or Honours/Postgraduate Diploma in Business, Strategy, or Information Systems 
  • Industry certifications advantageous, including Cloud (AWS/Azure), Agile/Product (SAFe/Scrum), FinOps, or Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF)


Experience

 

  • 3–5+ years in: Technology Strategy, Management Consulting, or Delivery Transformation
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments preferred
  • Exposure to: Cloud transformation, platform modernisation, or digital ecosystems

 

Required Experience

 

  • Recent contribution to published technology industry viewpoints
  • Experience facilitating: 
    o    Strategy and innovation workshops
    o    JAD sessions and MVP design
    o    Agile design sprints
