The overall purpose of the role

Sanlam Corporate Investments (SC Invest) is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive growth in the institutional investment market while enhancing intermediary engagement and support. This role combines strategic business development and client acquisition with ongoing intermediary enablement and servicing.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Client Growth:

- Develop and execute a new business client strategy focused on institutional investments and annuities.

- Identify and source opportunities within the institutional market.

- Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities.

- Strengthen relationships across the Sanlam Group.

 

Client Retention & Relationship Management:

- Maintain and deepen relationships with existing institutional clients.

- Deliver a high-quality client experience aligned with Sanlam values.

- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.

 

Intermediary Enablement & Support:

- Engage and support IFAs, consultants, and tied agents.

- Provide product training, insights, and tools.

- Onboard intermediaries onto platforms and solutions.

- Support product queries and implementation processes.

- Build and maintain advisor and broker relationships.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

- Partner with internal teams (Product, Distribution, Marketing).

- Collaborate with intermediary firms and stakeholders.

- Represent SC Invest at industry events and forums.

 

Market Insights & Product Positioning:

- Provide expertise on annuities, smoothing, and investment strategies.

- Monitor market trends and feedback.

- Support education and empowerment initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

- Relevant Financial Bachelor’s degree

- Postgraduate qualification advantageous

- 5–8 years’ experience in investments or employee benefits

- Strong understanding of financial markets

Knowledge and Experience:

- Institutional investments and employee benefits knowledge

- Understanding of distribution and intermediary landscape

- Experience working with financial advisors
