Who are we?

What will you do?
Responsible for the financial accounting function in Satrix. Responsibilities include the preparation of financial management accounts, financial analysis of results, budget preparation and reporting, establishing and executing accounting policies/procedures, maintenance of financial records, fund accounting and auditor’s liaison. The successful incumber will be required to streamline financial operations, improve efficiency, and create a cohesive financial management reporting structure. You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to enhance financial oversight, establish best practices, and strengthen technical financial capabilities within the business.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial management:
- Accounts receivable management (Review and approval of product fee / rebate calculations and invoices, debtor management)
- Accounts payable management (approval of creditor invoices and payments, vendor management)
- Review and approval of journal entries at month-end
- Review of general ledger for reasonability of income and expenditure
- Review of balance sheet reconciliations
Taxation:
- Review and approval of income tax returns
- Review and approval of monthly VAT calculations, reconciliations and returns
- Resolution of tax queries in consultation with the Group tax team.
Cashflow management:
- Settlement of intercompany loans
- Working capital management - managing the company’s short-term assets and liability to maintain operational efficiency
- Cash positioning - regularly reviewing and optimising the company’s cash position to meet financial obligations
- Preparation of annual statutory dividend calculations
Management Accounts:
- Budgeting and Forecasting – Preparation and coordination of annual budget and financial forecasts (including reporting system updates)
- Reporting - generating monthly management reports and analysis, including variance analysis (Department, Exco and Board reports)
- Assets under management and investor flows reporting, including product margin analysis
- Sanlam Group reporting - compliance to Group guidelines for consolidated reporting
Technical Support on Accounting issues:
- Regulatory compliance - providing guidance on compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Technical accounting advice - offering expert advice on complex accounting issues and new regulations
Fund accounting:
- Oversight of portfolio accounting & record keeping, including valuation, corporate actions, income & expenses, and cash & liquidity monitoring
- Monitoring of reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items
- Oversight of financial reporting
- TER review and reporting
Statutory reporting (as part of the service Level agreement with centralised group finance)
- Compliance reporting – financial soundness and liquidity management
- Financial statement oversight - balance sheets, income statements, and cashflow statements
- Audit liaison and assistance
Other:
- Business plans – new products (financial feasibility studies)
Qualification and Experience
- Qualified CA(SA) or Degree
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ related experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
