GhostDraft Forms Developer

Purpose of the Role

Job Purpose 

The GhostDraft Developer in the Front-office BAU team is responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of static and dynamic, data-driven forms and documents accessed by Glacier clients and intermediaries through the Glacier portal. The role focuses on developing foundational skills in document automation and form development while working under the guidance of senior team members. This role is based at the Glacier Head Office in Cape Town (Hybrid/On-site as required).

Key Outcomes

The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Forms Developer Front Office: 

Build & Design

• Assist in translating business requirements into functional, user-friendly forms and document templates. 
• Support the development and maintenance of dynamic, pre-filled, reader-extended forms. 
• Modify and enhance existing templates based on business and operational requirements. 
• Assist in creating new templates using specifications, sample forms, and reference documents. 
• Ensure adherence to established form design standards and layout guidelines. 
• Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from senior developers and stakeholders.

Data & Integration

• Assist with configuring data-driven prefill functionality. 
• Support integration of forms with backend data sources and systems. 
• Validate data mappings and troubleshoot data-population issues.

Logic & Functionality

• Implement conditional logic and business rules within forms. 
• Configure validation rules and field behaviour. 
• Support the personalisation of forms based on business requirements. 
• Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of existing form functionality.

Quality & Operations

• Troubleshoot and resolve form-related issues under guidance from senior team members. 
• Assist with production support and incident resolution. 
• Support the continuous improvement of form quality, usability, and performance. 
• Participate in post-implementation support and operational activities. 
• Maintain accurate documentation of templates, configurations, and development activities.

Testing

• Conduct functional and regression testing of forms and document templates. 
• Verify successful form generation, data population, and field behaviour before handover for formal testing. 
• Assist business analysts, testers, and business users during testing cycles and defect resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Requirements

• 2 - 3 years' experience in software development, document automation, forms development, or a related field.
• Exposure to GhostDraft or similar Customer Communication Management (CCM) platforms such as OpenText Exstream,
• SmartCOMM, or Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Forms.
• Diploma in Information Technology, Software Development, or a related field.
• Relevant practical experience may be considered in place of a formal qualification.

Preferred

• Exposure to creating interactive PDF forms.
• Exposure to document automation or customer communication management solutions.
• GhostDraft training/certification.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments.

Competencies

Core Technical Skills

• Good understanding of dynamic template development.
• Good knowledge of document automation concepts.
• Understanding and implementation of JavaScript or similar scripting languages.
• Familiarity with JSON, XML, and data integration concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug.

Form-Specific Skills

• Ability to configure and maintain form fields.
• Understanding of validation rules and field behaviour.
• Exposure to conditional logic and dynamic sections.
• Attention to formatting, layout consistency, and document quality.

Advantageous 

• Exposure to GhostDraft Studio, Data Workbench and/or Scripting Language.
• Exposure to AEM Workbench/Designer and/or Scripting Language.
• Basic knowledge of React and modern front-end development concepts
• Experience within financial services, investments, or insurance industries. 
• Experience working with compliance-related forms and documents. 
• Knowledge of document generation and workflow processes.

Software Development- Level 5 - Application
Contribute to development of existing and new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement. Contribute to development of new applications to meet customer requirements.

Software Maintenance- Level 5 - Application
Monitor, identify, and correct straightforward software defects to maintain fully functioning applications software.

Programming Troubleshooting- Level 5 - Application
Support programming troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of programming issues.

Testing Information Technology (IT) Performance- Level 5 - Application
Perform website/applications software tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.

Technical Developments Recommendation- Level 5 - Application
Research and suggest technical developments to prove the quality of the used technology, such as systems, processes, infrastructure, installations, and machines.
