What will you do?
Job Purpose
The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, managing and delivering product-related marketing communications that support Glacier's business objectives, product strategy, intermediary engagement and client education initiatives. The role serves as the communication bridge between Product Development, Marketing, Distribution, Client Services, Compliance, Legal and external agencies, ensuring that all product communications are accurate, compliant, client-centric and aligned with Glacier's brand standards.
The incumbent will lead product communication campaigns, create and maintain marketing collateral, oversee intermediary communications, manage website content, support digital marketing initiatives and contribute to the overall marketing content strategy.
Key Outcomes
Product marketing communications
- Develop, write, edit and maintain product-related marketing collateral for Glacier products.
- Play a pivotal role in the creation and updating of: Brochures and other sales collateral, video scripts, educational material, product explainer documents, and intermediary-facing communication.
- Drive production, review and approval processes, including legal, compliance and business sign-off.
- Coordinate communication updates arising from: product launches, product enhancements, legislative changes, regulatory requirements, process changes
Intermediary communications
- Own and manage communication to financial intermediaries.
- Develop targeted communication relating to inter alia: new product launches, product amendments, legislative updates, process changes, product maturities, fee changes, new digital tools, service enhancements
- Develop intermediary toolkits, sales enablement material, battlecards, campaign assets and educational content that support business development and adviser adoption.
- Produce and coordinate email campaigns, Glacier Fortnightly content, maturity notifications, product launch communications, intermediary enablement material
- Help ensure intermediaries are equipped with relevant and timely information that enables effective client engagement and product conversion.
Digital content and website management
- Collaborate with Digital team to create, maintain and update product content on:
- glacieronline.co.za
- Sanlam Insights website for intermediaries
- Other intermediary-facing digital platforms
- Ensure all web content remains accurate, compliant, and current
- Apply SEO best practices where appropriate.
- Manage content updates arising from product, legislative or process changes.
- Support website enhancement and digital transformation initiatives.
Marketing campaigns
Taking a leading role in the execution of tactical and strategic campaigns aimed at:
- Client retention: Support retention initiatives for maturing Retirement Annuities / endowments / structured products; and assist with targeted communication journeys and awareness initiatives.
- Product awareness: Increase awareness and understanding of Glacier’s range of products and solutions.
- Client education: develop educational content that explains financial concepts and product benefits; and create content for articles, email campaigns, videos, social media and web platforms.
- Intermediary enablement: create material that simplifies complex product information and assists intermediaries in converting opportunities.

Content strategy and editorial management
- Support the development and execution of Glacier's communication content plan.
- Identify communication opportunities aligned to business priorities.
- Ensure messaging consistency across all communication channels.
- Review and approve externally developed agency content.
- Ensure adherence to Glacier brand, tone and communication standards.
- Repurpose content across multiple platforms and audiences.
Communication support and stakeholder collaboration
- Partner with product development, sales/distribution, client services, compliance/legal, internal marketing teams, and external agencies.
- Responsibilities include editing and proofreading communication; supporting business projects from a communications perspective; and reviewing client and intermediary correspondence.
Marketing governance and compliance
- Ensure all communication material complies with regulatory requirements, industry standards, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, Sanlam and Glacier governance requirements.
- Coordinate approval and sign-off processes.
- Maintain version control and content repositories.
- Monitor communication accuracy across all client touchpoints.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in: Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Financial Services Marketing, or a related field.
- Approximately 3 - 5 years' experience in a communications role.
- Financial services experience essential.
- Experience in investment, wealth management, retirement or life insurance products highly advantageous.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Content development, technical writing, editing and proofreading, product marketing, campaign support, website content management, intermediary communication, or digital marketing.
Technical skills
- Strong writing and editing skills.
