What will you do?
Job Purpose
Responsible for developing and implementing innovative Technical Business Solutions including Tax Solutions to optimize operational efficiency at Glacier International. In addition, the specialist will be responsible for providing support to key business applications and processes throughout Glacier International. This includes the daily end user support on issues requiring specialist attention, as well as managing the system development life cycle for changes and updates.
Key Outcomes
The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Senior Technical and Automation Specialist:
- To onboard key stockbroking data sets onto a third-party tax application system including the integration thereof to the company’s web admin system.
- To have a high-level understanding on Corporate Actions, Capital Gains, Deemed Disposal – the Tax implications and the interpretation thereof
- To analyze, interpret and identify any shortcomings in datasets or files against business requirements and specifications.
- Facilitate close working sessions with various internal and external stakeholders including third party service providers.
- To present to stakeholder’s progress and analysis in a clear, structured and concise manner
- To identify impacted areas of project objectives and provide solutions thereof
- To develop a working relationship with data providers to help improve and deliver the required data for purpose.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the overall strategic development of the tax application and other business systems in the organization
- Ensure applications are in optimal working order
- Define areas of improvement that are aligned with system development life cycle and organizations strategy
- Keep abreast of issue logs of all users/system issues and their resolutions
- Assist system vendors during system development
- Identify processes in maximizing productivity
- Manage nonconformance with System Vendors and ensure prompt resolution thereof
- Build on processes and procedures that follow the best practices of Glacier International
- Monitor that the immediate and medium-term business needs are being addressed by the system and operational development initiatives
- Analyze business operations with clients’ needs
- Document business cases, operational requirements and help review the specifications provided by system vendors.
- Define areas for enhancements that are aligned with system development life cycle
- Constantly reviewing and identifying workflows to drive operational efficiency
- Develop, maintain and review system documentation (Processing standards)
- Facilitate system and operational forums and workshops
- Project manage system upgrades and restructuring ito communication, training and support
- Project manage all new development within any system and the roll out of new functionality

- Provide users with information about new functionality and coordinate the implementation of such new functionality
- Communicate to internal parties and system vendors on a continual basis
- Resolve escalated incidents and critical problem areas within operations
- Liaise with other teams to understand their needs and ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes, development plans in the pipeline and achievements
- Act as a leading advisor and subject matter expert when it comes to Glacier International Operational systems and functionality thereof
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Tax equivalent
- At least 5 years of working experience in an international Private Wealth/Stockbroking environment is essential.
- Proven multi-level stakeholder management skills
- Advanced Excel level capability.
- SQL and Project management experience advantageous.
