What will you do?

 

Job Purpose 

 

This is a Senior Management role residing at Glacier, reporting directly to the Head Glacier Partners Absa. This role forms part of the Leadership/MANCO for the Glacier Partners. 

 

Key Outcomes


The primary purpose of this role is to assume responsibility for the Glacier Partners Projects and Program delivery function with respect to business related IT change implementations and includes the following services: 

 

  • People Management of the PMO team within Glacier Partners
  • Management of:
    • Business and IT Programs Portfolio 
    • Allocated Business and IT Projects 
  • Projects Portfolio Reporting, Risk Management and Governance 
  • Projects Portfolio budget and financial management
  • Project Support Services 
  • Agile Centre of Excellence
  • Management of Partner Requests for Proposals  
  • Leading, mentoring and coaching scrum masters, project managers and relevant staff members within the competency.

 

Outputs

 

Undertake a leadership role

  • Form part of leadership / MANCO team that takes collective accountability for the management and leadership of Glacier Partners. 
  • In support and alignment with the strategy, give input into the formulation of the Business Change Strategy and Vision/Direction. 
  • Undertake required business planning 
  • Co-create the Glacier Partners value proposition, focus and operational/business model for clients. 
  • Communicate/market, drive and integrate the strategy within the Glacier Partners with staff, as well as to clients.
  • Successful Management of the Post Merger Integration within Glacier Partners and all the other migration projects 

 

Build a Strategic PMO capability for Glacier Partners

  • Research and understand strategies and trends in Large Scale projects and Business Change delivery models. 
  • Set strategy, provide thought leadership and lead capability area maturity. 
  • Design and maintain a large-scale change portfolio management capability including vision, goals and objectives, processes, capabilities, governance, risk management and other appropriate practices. 
  • Design and implement effectiveness measures and KPI’s to ensure quality delivery. 
  • Create a centre of excellence that maintains, standards, practices and competencies required to manage different delivery models (Agile, Traditional). 
  • Act as Product Owner for the Agile Centre of Excellence and Competencies that promotes matures Agile ways of work across the Glacier Partners. 
  • Ensure effective support and administration capabilities are in place to compliment the delivery process. 
  • Resource and staff competency centres with appropriately experienced staff. 
  • Manage Budgets and risks for the capability areas that fall within the Glacier Partners Project Management Office.
  • Provide input to business cases at strategic and operational level 

 

Enable Glacier Agile delivery 

  • Engage Glacier Partners capability areas and Glacier Partners Customers to position PMO offering and to manage demand for services. 
  • Define and set up projects, programmes and other initiatives to implement on strategic objectives of Glacier Partners and their customer base. 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in IT, Business or Commerce 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in running large scale Change Programmes across business and IT. 
  • At least 5 years heading up a technology PMO, or a significant portfolio of Change initiatives. 
  • Experience in designing and implementing project management related processes, governance, and reporting. 
  • Senior management/leadership experience with a sizeable team. 
  • Exposure and leadership role in implementing Agile delivery models and practice

  • Sound understanding of the Group-wide Sanlam as well as Glacier by Sanlam business environment and business model

  • Programme conceptualisation and business case formulation 
  • Project and portfolio reporting

Attributes

 

  • Sound conceptual understanding of IT development and architecture practices/ processes with experience in:
    • Practical involvement in major IT change projects 
    • Practical understanding of IT development methodologies (Agile and Traditional) 
    • Understanding of tools used to effectively manage projects and project portfolios.
