The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes.

What will you do?

This role will be responsible for sourcing and transforming a wide range of data across the business into formats that can be used by end users to develop differentiating business insights. They will assist in specifying complex business rules using specified toolsets to enable the data modellers to create complex analytical models.  Analyses data models, tests outputs and investigates and troubleshoots data issues, devising solutions in line with best practice.  Communicates business information to the technical teams and. provides daily, weekly and monthly MIS reports/dashboards.  Duties include compiling and presenting divisional and functional reports, interpreting data trends and patterns.  Ensures month end runs are accurate and timeous, support clients with regard to ad-hoc reports and queries.  The incumbent has a complete and clear understanding of the database.  Responsibilities include the co-ordination and management of changes to the MIS database, the streamlining of MIS reports and processes across the business.  Provides problem-solving assistance to other team members. Coaches and mentors junior team members.

Data Preparation

  • Acquire data from various data sources and combine & transform data into interpretable datasets, reports or dashboards
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
  • Extend the company’s data with third party sources of information when required
  • Process, cleanse and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Ensure that the business requirements and subsequent development activities are supported by accurate information. 

 
Analysis and Visualisation

  • Create reports/dashboards using Microsoft BI stack.
  • Interpret data, analyse results using analytical techniques and provide reports and/or dashboards
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Use data to answer key questions about the business.
  • Support and maintain the project data models at multiple levels of detail and functionality (conceptual, logical, normalised, relational, dimensional, application level, subject-level, integrated, etc.)
  • Documenting processes

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work directly with management and other business users to gather requirements, provide status updates, and build relationships
  • Present information using data visualisation techniques
  • Facilitate requirements gathering workshops with the business
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyse information needs, functional requirements and business processes

What will make you successful in this role?

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Informatics/Computer science/engineering) or equivalent (will consider candidates in 2nd year of Studies)
  • 2 - 3 years of experience performing data analytics
  • Experience working with data in various data sources and databases
  • Practical experience in analytics, data modelling and data profiling
  • Experience in financial services an advantage
  • Experience working in an agile environment

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with tools SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, SSMS (T-SQL)
  • Strong analytical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
