As part of SanlamConnect, Succession Financial Planning (SFP) is a financial services provider with a focus on the Registered Financial Advisor (RFA), looking to grow a professional practice while offering holistic financial planning to their clients. SFP is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sanlam Group.

What will you do?

The IT Operations Specialist ensures the smooth, secure, and efficient operation of all technology systems, platforms, and integrations that support SFP’s adviser ecosystem and internal teams. The role serves as the key link between Business Analysts, Technology Consultants, Admin Teams, and Group IT — ensuring system uptime, data integrity, and optimal performance across the SFP technology stack.

What will make you successful in this role?

Systems Operations & Maintenance
•    Monitor, maintain, and optimize SFP systems (e.g. SFP Online, Advisor Onboarding, Workflow Platforms, CRM integrations).
•    Manage incidents, escalations, and service requests within agreed SLAs.
•    Oversee scheduled maintenance, updates, and patch management in collaboration with Sanlam Group IT.
Infrastructure & Platform Support
•    Ensure uptime and reliability of infrastructure supporting advisor and admin systems.
•    Support deployment of test and production environments, including system integrations.
•    Work closely with infrastructure and cloud teams to optimize server usage, storage, and backups.
User & Access Management
•    Manage system access, user roles, and permissions across platforms.
•    Ensure compliance with Information Security, Sanlam Governance, and POPIA requirements.
Incident & Change Management
•    Log, track, and resolve incidents via ServiceNow (or equivalent ITSM tool).
•    Facilitate and implement system changes following Change Management processes.
•    Document root causes, implement preventive measures, and maintain configuration documentation.
Collaboration & Coordination
•    Partner with Business Analysts to translate incidents and enhancements into actionable technical tasks.
•    Work with Technology Consultants to support advisor tools and integrations.
•    Collaborate with Digital Admin and Group IT on system onboarding, escalations, and vendor management.
Monitoring & Reporting
•    Maintain dashboards for system uptime, response times, and incident resolution.
•    Produce operational performance reports (weekly/monthly) for SFP leadership.
•    Recommend and track operational and technical improvements.
Automation & Process Efficiency
•    Identify and automate repetitive support or administrative tasks.
•    Develop scripts, alerts, or dashboards to reduce manual interventions.
•    Collaborate with the Business Analyst to recommend automation initiatives.
Budgeting
•    AWS Budgeting and cost estimation, FinOps


Qualification and Experience:
•    Matric 
•    Must have completed and be in possession of a 3-year National Diploma or Degree in IT
•    3–5 years of experience in IT Operations, Systems Administration, or Infrastructure Support.
•    Windows and operating systems
•    MS Office, MS Dynamics, MS Power Apps, MS Power BI etc
•    Moodle
•    Programming (SQL, HTML, CSS, PHP, javascript)
•    Web development/design
•    SharePoint
•    Web development/design skills
•    Strong understanding of financial services systems and digital platforms
•    Familiarity with Agile and Change Management frameworks.
•    Relevant regulatory legislation and compliance knowledge and interest
•    AI
•    AWS


Knowledge and Skills   
•    Knowledge of and experience in MS Office, MS Dynamics, MS Power Apps, MS Power BI, SharePoint, and MS365 Admin, etc
•    Financial Services Industry Knowledge (advantageous) 
•    Relevant regulatory legislation and compliance knowledge (advantageous)
•    ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow), system monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios)
•    SQL fundamentals, scripting, and API integrations.
•    Basic web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
•    A good understanding of the system development life cycle 
•    Cloud technologies (AWS certification advantageous)
•    AI/ML
