Sanlam Alternative Investments (SAI)
The purpose Sanlam Alternative Investments (SAI) business is to help build the African continent and make a real sustainable difference in the emerging economies in which we operate in, aligning to the Sanlam Group’s mission of financial inclusion. The SAI business has a broad range of capabilities that include Private Equity, Specialised Finance, Property, Infrastructure and Partnerships. Sanlam is the biggest non-banking financial institution on the continent, operating in Africa for over 100 years.
What will you do?
We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to support the SAI credit business. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, processing, analysing, and presenting financial data from multiple sources to key stakeholders within the business. You will be expected to gather and manage financial data from various internal teams, ensuring accuracy and relevance. Analyse and interpret data to provide actionable insights for stakeholders. Present financial findings in a clear and structured manner. Utilise Bloomberg, Excel, and Word to process and report data effectively. Understand and contribute to the improvement of existing business processes. You will be expected to have a sound understanding of credit markets, and having familiarity with the Murex and Bloomberg system is an advantage with an opportunity to learn. The successful candidate is expected to be ambitious, energetic, and eager to make a meaningful impact on the business.
What will make you successful in this role?
Liquidity Forecasting:
o Forecast liquidity on a deal-by-deal cash flow basis.
o Collaborate with the deal team to forecast cash flow requirements.
o Collaborate with the Liquidity and Payments team to manage cash flow requirements.
o Collaborate with the deal team and the Liquidity and Payment teams to forecast hard currency payments.
o Manage and monitor hard currency limits for each business.
Data Management:
o Update, manage and monitor all the deals completed, declined and missed for the business.
o Update, manage and monitor the business transactions update list.
Prepare Return on Group Equity Value (ROGEV) updates:
o Collaborate with Balance Sheet Management and Finance to update the business ROGEV inputs.
o Collate SAM Capital data from Group office.
o Prepare semi-annual budget information for Solvency Asset Management (“SAM”) capital purposes.
Monthly Reporting:
o Collaborate with the Transaction Management team to source monthly portfolio data.
o Prepare monthly portfolio transactions data for analysis and presentations.
o Collaborate with the Balance Sheet Management team to reconcile monthly credit assets, cash positions and synthetic liabilities.
o Match monthly income statements to credit assets.
o Update monthly EXCO reports.
Asset specific Credit spread reviews:
o Manage and champion the semi-annual unlisted credit valuation process for the business.
Collect, analyse and manage the following data processes:
o Responsible for Bloomberg data collection and presentation.
o Responsible for bond data analysis and presentations.
o Responsible for Market data analysis and presentations.
o Assist with configuration of bonds into Murex.
o Enhance data collection, analysis and presentation by collaborating with the Finance, Middle Office and Transaction Management teams.
o Monthly and Quarterly reporting documents for third party investors.
