What will you do?
The SQL Analyst Developer will join the Glacier DataHub agile team and contribute to strategic data and reporting initiatives, with a primary focus on developing, enhancing, and maintaining reports and data solutions on SAP HANA. The successful candidate will play an important role in translating business requirements into reliable, high-quality technical solutions that support informed decision-making across the business. This role requires strong SQL development capability, sound analytical thinking, and the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, testers, architects, and other developers to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions within an agile delivery environment. The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running, take ownership of assigned deliverables, contribute to continuous improvement, and maintain high standards of performance, quality, and collaboration. This is a fast-paced, high-energy project environment that makes use of modern technologies and requires someone who is adaptable, delivery-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under pressure. The role is based at Glacier Head Office in Cape Town
Key outcomes
The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Analyst developer - SQL
• Develop and maintain SAP HANA stored procedures from specification documents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, and ship new features.
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
• Investigate new technology and do POC’s for possible use
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
• At times take ownership of the delivery of a feature and give feedback
• Do the occasional business presentation on recently completed features.
Mentorship and coaching
• Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery on time
• Comply to QA (quality assurance) process to ensure a high standard of code delivery
• Participate in discussions in the development forum
Collaborating with Design and Architecture teams
• Assist with SQL database design, optimization and implementation modelling
• Implementing process and system efficiencies
• Involvement in strategic project initiatives
• Implementing POC (proof of concept) initiatives
• Involvement in future Web applications strategy
• Research, evaluate and recommend software products
• Provide input on enhancing coding principles, standards and best practices
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
What will make you successful in this role?
Qualifications and experience
• Matric / Grade 12
• Relevant IT qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience as a SQL developer working in the Financial Services industry.
• Strong experience in .Net development, including C#, ASP.Net, and .Net Core.
• Experience with database technologies such as SQL Server.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) is a plus.
