What will you do?

  • Investigate, analyze, resolve and advise on support issues in a business application support environment.
  • Provide end user application support and guidance on software applications, and systems (like, Xplan, Papertrial, Hermes and others)
  • Testing of new applications or upgrades
  • Conduct system monitoring
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure problem resolution on various applications
  • Work with project teams to investigate complex issues, identify and implement solutions
  • Work in partnership with other departments ensuring correct exchange of knowledge and successful transition of developments into production
  • Maintain appropriate levels of technical and procedural documentation
  • Adhere to appropriate departmental procedures and practices (such as auditing requirements, control procedures and incident management procedures)
  • Communicate with end users and other support teams to notify of system incidents and resolution thereof
  • Facilitate system audit processes

Qualification and Experience

  • Relevant IT qualification.
  • Microsoft T-SQL
  • Minimum 2 years support analyst or application support experience, including application monitoring.
  • Basic knowledge of the disciplines in an application support environment, incident handling, change management, problem management etc.
  •  Problem solving exposure at application and business transaction level using application log files and SQL database queries.
  • Commitment to performing routine as well as investigation/analysis work tasks. Ability to solve medium complexity problems.
  • Understand and develop the support team technical competency.
  • Financial Service / Stockbroking experience beneficial

Knowledge and skills

  • Understanding of SQL Server and SQL scripting 
  • Experience of Windows platforms
  • Experience of Application Monitoring
  • Understanding of web technology
  • Excellent communication skills [English / Afrikaans] both written and verbal
