What will you do?
As a Business Systems Analyst (BSA), you will be responsible for translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements aligned with business objectives. As a member of the agile development team, you will leverage the knowledge and expertise of your team. Insights gained through continuous engagement with business stakeholders, your development team, and other analyst combined with your own analysis will ensure the delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions that maximize value while minimizing impact. You will validate that the final solution meets both business goals and user expectations, driving successful outcomes.
Key outcomes
• Understand Business Needs: Analyse and gain a deep understanding of business needs as they relate to potential changes or transformations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Advise on Optimal Solutions: Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, providing guidance on the best outcomes for specific business problems or initiatives, based on thorough analysis.
• Facilitate Collaboration: Lead and facilitate group workshops and meetings to gather insights, refine requirements, and foster collaboration between business stakeholders, development teams, and analysts.
• Bridge the Gap Between Technical and Non-Technical Teams: Clearly explain technical concepts and jargon to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that all team members and business units can easily understand requirements and proposed solutions.
• Gather and Document Requirements: Identify, capture, and document clear, actionable business and system requirements, ensuring that they are well-defined, comprehensive, and aligned with business objectives.
• Simplify and Communicate Requirements: Break down complex requirements into simple, understandable formats, ensuring that they are easily grasped by the entire team for effective implementation.
• Build Strong Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with all key stakeholders, including business owners, product owners, development teams, trainers, and users, to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Enhance Business Processes: Model, analyse, and improve business processes across various business units, systems, and workflows to drive operational efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
• Support Solution Implementation: Oversee the implementation, testing, and deployment of solutions to business problems, including facilitating and coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business needs and user expectations.
• Drive Business Transition and Change Management: Support business transition by facilitating change management processes, ensuring smooth adoption of new solutions, and transferring knowledge to users, trainers, and peers.
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of the business analysis framework, methodologies, and best practices to enhance team effectiveness and ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Collaborate within Agile Framework: Work seamlessly within an agile team, following Scrum principles and methodologies, to ensure that requirements are managed iteratively, and solutions are delivered in alignment with agile practices.
What will make you successful in this role?
Qualifications and experience
• Matric
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, or equivalent) is an advantage
• Agile/Scrum Certification (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, PMI-ACP, or similar) is an advantage, particularly in agile environments.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or in a similar role.
• Experience in the Financial Services Industry or other relevant sectors (e.g., healthcare, technology, etc.) is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in an Agile environment, ideally working within Scrum teams and understanding agile methodologies.
• Experience with Business Process Modelling (BPM), mapping workflows, and improving business processes.
• Hands-on experience with business analysis tools such as Azure DevOps, Confluence, and process modelling software.
• Strong understanding of functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, and user stories.
• Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including creating test cases, coordinating testing, and validating solutions.
• Experience with stakeholder management and building relationships with business owners, product owners, development teams, and end-users.
• Familiarity with web-based technologies (APIs, web portals, cloud infrastructure) and the ability to understand technical discussions.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards relevant to web-based financial applications (e.g., FICA, POPIA, FAIS, ECTA).
• Understanding of user experience (UX/UI) principles to collaborate with designers and ensure that the solution meets user expectations and is intuitive
