What will you do?

  • Ensure branch level reporting is accurate and lead engagement with Regional Heads/ Business Heads on financial performance by providing insights on income and expense trends
  • Review and identify any discrepancies between actuals and budget per branch monthly, determine root causes and assess impact on the SPW forecasted results for inclusion in the top-down forecast
  • Instill a cost review process for branches monthly to ensure that budgets are not exceeded and agreed savings are achieved.
  • Continuously improve reporting, processes, communication, and services provided by Finance to the regions. This should include improvements in IDU, improved management information, alignment between SPW, branch and PM results, the use of AI / automation to achieve these improvements.
  • Own and drive the annual process of the bottom-up forecast per branch and budget for branches. Ensure that clear guidelines are provided to allow for reasonable forecasts and budgets. Drive out IDU changes required to optimise the process. Perform the first-level review of forecasts and budgets for branches and regions for reasonability, before the Head of Finance review process.
  • Prepare Income tax, provisional tax and deferred tax calculations for Head of Finance review
  • Prepare finance slides for monthly Exco
  • Reconciliation between JSE BDA system and JDE.
  • Review & approval of expense payments and invoices generated
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Technical IFRS memos on an ad hoc basis and review of Annual Financial Statements
  • Ad-hoc projects and support with audit requirements

Qualification and Experience

  • CA (SA)
  • 5 years’ relevant experience - preferably in the financial services industry
  • Strong data analysis and excel modelling experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Financial modelling
  • Data analysis to provide insights
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • JDE (or similar) accounting system
  • IDU (reporting and budgeting tool)
  • Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • IFRS knowledge
  • SA income tax knowledge
  • AI and automation tools experience will be an advantage
