Creditor and Payments Officer

What will you do?

The main focus will be the processing of creditors’ invoices, reconciliations, allocations of expenses and processing payments. 

What will make you successful in this role?

Financial Accounting

  • Supplier invoices processing

Prepare and process supplier invoices on the Finance system.

Maintaining vendor relationships and ensure accounts are up to date.

Handling of queries that arise from other departments or vendors.

  •  Online Banking

Loading of payments on the online banking profile. (Bureau Files, EFT, Tax, Foreign etc.)

Ensure relevant bank accounts have sufficient funds to cover payments.

Process bank journals to allocate payments made.

  • Cost allocation and journals

Process bank journals on the finance system to allocate payments that were made.

Ensure transactions are allocated to the correct GL accounts and cost centers and that these allocations are in line with budgets.

  • Fixed Assets

Process invoices for the acquisition of Fixed Assets.

Ensuring assets are correctly captured and the Fixed asset register reconciles.

  •  Reconciliations

Prepare control account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

  • Leases and Variables

Processing of Monthly Leases and variable costs on the finance system.

Resolve any variances from the contracts.

  •  Office supplies

Order of office supplies from vendors such as office groceries or stationery.

Keeping track of orders and ensuring items are received.

Monitoring of usage to stay within budget.

  • Ad Hoc duties

As part of the finance team there will be Ad Hoc responsibilities which do not fall into one of the above categories. Examples include but are not limited to assisting with Monthly reporting, standing in for team members, assisting with budgets etc.

Qualification and Experience

Matric or Equivalent (English, Maths and Accounting as subjects)

Preferably a degree or diploma in finance.

Minimum 2 years experience in finance or similar industry.

Knowledge and Skills

Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office; Microsoft Excel, accounting software
SAP S/4HANA knowledge would be an advantage
Interpersonal and communication skills

Problem identification and problem-solving skills
Assertive, pro-active, tactful and polite
Confidentiality, work ethics and professionalism are essential
