What will you do?
The Compliance Officer will play a key part of Sanlam Personal Portfolios, by assisting to manage compliance risks. The position requires, amongst others, providing compliance related advice and recommendations to the Business Unit, draft documents & reports and interpreting legislation.
What will make you successful in this role?
- Interpret legislation, regulations, guidance notes and directives etc. to identify and assess compliance risks
- Draft documents, processes, policies and procedures to address compliance risks
- Implement processes, policies, procedures and controls to effectively manage compliance risks
- Ensure that compliance processes, policies and procedures and controls are maintained
- Consult with and provide recommendations with the Business Unit, to sufficiently address compliance deficiencies
- Monitor and report on compliance risks
- Conduct transaction monitoring
- Attend to certain compliance reporting
- Engagement with auditors and attend to compliance related aspects in audit reports
- Engagement with regulators (attend at inspections and attend to enquiries/questionnaires/reports)
- Ensure that the Business Unit staff complete the compliance related training and assessment
Qualification and Experience
Grade 12
Bachelor Degree in Law
Admitted Attorney (would be an advantage)
Experience in compliance risk management environment (would be an advantage)
Diploma / Certificate in Compliance Management (would be an advantage)
Certificate in Anti-money Laundering Controls (would be an advantage)
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and insight of legislation and compliance risk management (would be an advantage)
Absolute proficiency in English (verbal and written) - An additional local Namibian language will be a competitive advantage
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong administrative and operational skills & knowledge
Pro-active, problem solving and goal oriented
Computer literate: MS Office Suite and company’s software
Detail-oriented, good interpersonal skills and good at time management and multi-tasking
Administrative oriented and skilled at problem identification and problem solving
Pro-active, tactful and polite
