Premium Accounting Officer: Commercial Stop Orders

What will you do?

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Premium Accounting Officer to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate collection, processing, allocation, and reconciliation of premiums received through employee stop orders across various insurance portfolios and legacy systems.

What will make you successful in this role?

Collect, process, and accurately allocate premium payments received through bank statements across SanlamAllianz Affluent, Entry Level Market, Funeral, REGENT, CLASS, and Legacy portfolios
Administer and reconcile the account, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and resolved
Process premium payments and maintain supporting documentation within Legacy systems
Schedule and manage employee stop order deductions for private companies and pay points, ensuring timely and accurate processing
Reconcile and balance pay point breakdowns and stop order collections to ensure completeness and accuracy
Allocate premium payments to policies and investigate and resolve unmatched or outstanding payments
Process reversals, rejected transactions, refunds, and payment adjustments in accordance with company procedures
Maintain accurate policy payment records and ensure all premium transactions are correctly reflected on policy administration systems
Reconcile posted premium receipts and payment breakdowns across all applicable product portfolios
Prepare, maintain, and update reconciliation reports and supporting documentation
Review and administer bank statements, ensuring the timely identification and allocation of premium receipts
Follow up on outstanding proof of payment documentation and liaise with clients, intermediaries, employers, and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies
Respond to payment, receipting, and stop order-related enquiries in a professional and timely manner
Identify and escalate premium collection irregularities, reconciliation discrepancies, and operational risks
Ensure compliance with internal controls, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements related to premium administration
Contribute to the continuous improvement of premium collection, receipting, and reconciliation processes
Provide administrative support and perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by Management

Qualification and Experience

School leaving certificate
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage
2-3 years' experience in financial administration, premium administration, receipting, reconciliations, or accounting

Knowledge and Skills

Full proficiency in English (verbal and written); knowledge of an additional local Namibian language will be a competitive advantage
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
