As an Actuarial Analyst in our Personal Lines Pricing team, you will help transform data into insights that drive profitable growth and support strategic decision-making across the business.
Working alongside colleagues in Product, Underwriting, Claims, and Pricing, you'll contribute to the development of innovative pricing solutions, enhance our understanding of risk, and help shape the future of South Africa's leading general insurer.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models and analytical processes that support business objectives. Ensuring solutions remain accurate, robust, relevant, fit for purpose, and regulatory compliant in a dynamic environment.
- Design and implement effective pricing and risk management strategies that drive sustainable growth improve portfolio performance and deliver profitable and sustainable outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate key financial, underwriting, and distribution performance indicators, identifying opportunities and emerging trends to support informed decision-making. Create insightful reporting and visualisations that turn complex data into actionable business intelligence and strategic recommendations. Contribute to the development and governance of Santam’s data assets to support advanced pricing and predictive modelling and future analytical innovation.
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation, and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and business outcomes. Play an active role in strategic initiatives and high impact projects, providing actuarial expertise and analytical insight to support business transformation.
- Interacting closely with Distribution, Claims, Underwriting and Product Teams to incorporate market trends, customer needs and operational insights into the product and pricing strategies.
- Supporting the development and enhancement of product solutions for various market segments and channels.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and investigations to solve complex business challenges and support emerging opportunities for the business.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and analytical best practices to help shape innovative solutions and maintain Santam's competitive advantage.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors / Honours degree in Actuarial Science or similar. Making good progress towards the actuarial qualification.
- One to two years working experience, preferably in general insurance pricing.
- Advanced computer literacy skills in one or more of the following: SAS, SQL, R, Python, Emblem, Radar etc.
- Strong analytical and modelling skills including experience in statistical analysis, technical pricing / predictive models and pricing solutions.
- Proven ability to source, structure, and manage data effectively, transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights.A curious and logical thinker with a passion for solving complex problems and uncovering opportunities through data.Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of challenges and see projects through from concept to implementation.Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear and actionable business recommendations.The ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business.
