Tester Intermediate (Manual/Automation)

CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Santam Technology Services, specifically the Outsourced Business Policy Admin team, has a position available for an experienced and passionate Software Tester, who will preferably be based in Bellville

JOB DESCRIPTION 

• Responsible for the development and execution of test cases to verify and validate the functionality on the various Outsourced Business platforms.
• Additionally, the role is responsible for maintaining test automation solutions, updating regression packs, logging of defects, and tracking defects aligned to the Atlassian toolset.
• Although not the predominant focus, Automation testing is expected to become more prevalent.   

DUTIES 
 

• Analysing user stories and/use cases/requirements for validity and feasibility with the Business Analyst and /or Developer.  
• Responsible for creating and executing test cases, features, and test plans  
• Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies with project team.  
• Checking test results and test failures   
• Analyses metrics for quality assessment  
• Work closely with Business Analyst to influence and monitor User Acceptance Testing.  
• Responsibilities may require after hours and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.  
• Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression)  
• Apply quality engineering principals throughout the Agile product lifecycle. 
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines 
• Basic coding (Java or associated) and Automation Scripting  
• Provide support and documentation.  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

• Testing certification (ISTQB – Foundation certificate) is a prerequisite. 
• Experience in initiatives relating to business-to-business data share and complex datasets. 
• Previous experience in tools like JIRA, Xray, Zephyr or HP Quality Centre 
• Experience with test automation tools integrated into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Bamboo, Maven, Bitbucket) is highly desirable 
• AWS cloud practitioner certification is advantageous 
• Insurance or Financial Services an advantage 
• Experience in software testing methodologies (agile, waterfall, functional and non-functional), test planning, test cases development, execution of test cases  
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.  
• Possesses good understanding of Quality Control and Quality Assurance concepts across the SDLC and the TDLC   
• Some basic experience with XML  

SKILLS  

• Technical competent in SQL, Bamboo, Maven, Cucumber, IntelliJ   
• Provides input to continuously improve test methodology.   
• Defines test scenarios.  
• Traces coverage and clearance  
• Provides input to standard test metrics and reporting.  
• Prioritize defect management with development team.  
• Has good time-management skills.
