Claims Manager: Insured Motor Recoveries and Liabilities

Santam’s Legal Claims Solutions division has two positions available for a Claims Manager – Insured Recoveries and Liabilities role based in Bellville

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

This role requires strong leadership skills, short-term insurance experience in a subrogation environment, and sound policy knowledge. The Claims Manager will lead a team responsible for Recoveries and/or Liabilities arising primarily out of motor vehicle collisions, providing management, support, and developing the team to enhance client experience, maintain quality standards, and deliver optimal financial results. 

This individual will be required to establish and maintain quality standards that drive client delight, cost efficiency, high financial performance, process compliance and risk management. They will also oversee and report on various specialist portfolios such as Santam Direct and Heavy Haulage Recoveries and Liabilities performances. 

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE?

•    Manage and report on team performance;
•    Manage human capital and development of staff;
•    Set goals for team and manage team capacity;
•    Ensure compliance with contracted service levels and optimized processes;
•    Mandate to handle claims, by exception;
•    Participate in ad-hoc projects and improvements;
•    Ensure adherence to various policies and legislative requirements;
•    Responsible for staff morale;
•    Manage internal and external relationships; 
•    Lead and motivate team;
•    Apply basic statistical analysis to track performance variations;
•    Continually review and measure team activities against targets, standards and service levels, agree and take actions to improve capability and performance so that the team achieves its maximum potential;
•    Resolve operational performance variations;
•    Escalate irresolvable problems to higher levels.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

•    Matric;
•    B. Degree in Legal, Commercial, or equivalent qualification;
•    At least five years’ short-term insurance experience, preferably in subrogation claims;
•    Demonstrated success in people leadership and process improvement.
•    Comprehensive experience in short-term procedural and practice knowledge (especially related to Motor Vehicle Accidents)

•    Comprehensive legal knowledge related to Motor Vehicle Accidents (delictual and procedural principles) and applicable legislative knowledge;
