The role
A Data Analyst position is available within Santam Re & International. This is a permanent opportunity based in Head Office in Cape Town.
What will you do?
To support and enhance the business intelligence capabilities within the organization by maintaining and developing Power BI models, managing internal data assets, and delivering actionable insights through dashboards and reports. The role will also contribute analytical expertise to strategic projects across the group
What will make you successful in this role?
- BI Model Support & Enhancement
- Maintain and enhance existing Power BI models used in operational reporting.
- Ensure data accuracy, performance optimization, and usability of BI solutions.
- Data Management & Integration
- Develop and maintain internal data assets to support modelling initiatives within the customer experience function.
- Integrate and manage internal data sources to ensure consistency and reliability.
- Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams to ensure smooth data flows and governance.
- Dashboard & KPI Development
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards that track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure dashboards are intuitive, insightful, and aligned with business objectives.
- Reporting & Insight Generation
- Create and maintain business reports that guide decision-making and drive action.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Strategic Project Participation
- Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives across the group.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in a data analyst or BI analyst role.
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional Practice (CDMP), preferably practitioner level, would be highly recommended
- Experience with data integration and management across multiple sources.
- Strong understanding of data modelling and visualization best practices and maintenance of key performance indicators.
- Proficiency in SQL and Power BI essential.
- Experience in a similar role in the insurance industry is recommended
