Team Leader: Accounts Payable (CPT)

The role
Santam Corporate Services has a position available for a Team Leader in the Accounts Payable team. This is a permanent position based at our Santam Head Office in Bellville, Tygervalley.
What will you do?
The Accounts Payable Team Leader is responsible for leading the Accounts Payable team and ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant payment processes. The role supports invoice payment automation, financial control, manual supplier payments, reconciliation, and reporting.
This role requires strong leadership, sound financial judgement, process improvement capability, and a focus on risk management and operational excellence
What will make you successful in this role?
- Lead, supervise, and support the Accounts Payable team to deliver accurate and timely work.
- Manage Claims invoice processing, exception handling, supplier payments, and adherence to internal controls.
- Review supplier statement reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations. Resolve and report on any issues.
- Maintain the Accounts Payable risk register and implement controls to reduce financial and compliance risks.
- Drive invoice automation and support system improvements with relevant stakeholders. Review controls in the invoice automation process, monitor automated controls through detailed reporting and effect improvements where necessary.
- Prepare Accounts Payable reports, cash flow information, age analyses, and performance metrics.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Support audit requirements, reporting deadlines, and compliance with company policies, VAT and other relevant legislation.
- Engage with internal stakeholders on end-to-end processes and provide support to the Accounts Payable Manager when required.
Qualification and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Auditing.
- At least 5 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable environment with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Previous short-term insurance experience is advantageous, especially in claims-related payments.
- Experience with invoice automation systems such as Kofax or Core Capture.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards.
