WHAT WILL YOU DO?
The successful candidate will be responsible for the business insights approach and works with decision makers, information managers and external service providers to continually engage in business development
The Finance Data Analyst role will sit within the Claims Finance team and play a key role in supporting claims leadership through financial data analysis, insights, and reporting. This role focuses on translating claims and financial data into actionable insights, enabling better decision-making.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE?
• Analyse claims financial data (e.g., ACPC, ARC, claims cost drivers, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Support Claims and Finance teams with data-driven insights for business reviews, forecasting, and planning
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and management packs tailored for Claims leadership and Exco
• Provide variance analysis and commentary on claims spend and key cost drivers
• Support analysis of internal vs external assessor performance and cost efficiency
• Identify data gaps and inconsistencies, and propose improvements to enhance data quality and reporting accuracy
• Translate complex data into clear, visual insights for stakeholders
• Partner with Claims stakeholders to better understand operational drivers behind financial performance
• Contribute to finance initiatives, including automation, reporting enhancements, and continuous improvement
• Support governance and reporting requirements within Claims Finance
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, or similar
• 4 - 7 years’ experience in financial analysis, business analytics, or data analysis
• Experience within insurance or claims environment (highly advantageous)
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
• Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau,Qliksense)
• Strong data handling and reporting capability
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets
KNOWLEDGE
• Experience within insurance or claims environment (highly advantageous)
• Strong understanding of financial metrics and reporting
• Strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation
• Understanding of claims processes and cost drivers (preferred)
