Senior Underwriting Analyst

What will you do?

Underwriting Services has a position available for an SENIOR UNDERWRITING ANALYST who will be based at Santam Hill on Empire, Parktown, Johannesburg.

What will make you successful in this role?

The purpose of the role is to support Personal Lines Underwriting Santam Broker Solutions with: 

• Analysis of new blocks of business take-ons. 
• Data quality management and clean-up actions in collaboration with Binder holders and Systems Providers 
• Enhancement of existing Analysis Models and Tools for various sets of data 
• Portfolio Performance analysis and identification of corrective actions. 
• Analysis of key underwriting performance drivers for all Santam Broker Solutions Binderholders. 
• Identification of high-risk clients like multi-claimants, for further underwriting. 
• Ad-hoc analysis tasks and renewals processing. 
• Client Lifetime value modelling and segmentation. 
• Present Analysis findings and recommendations to National Account Managers, Regional Managers and Binder holders.
• Monitor results of all action plans implemented. 
• Engage with actuarial to drive growth and improve profitability. 
• Analyse rating criteria and recommend changes. 

Qualifications & Experience

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• Degree or Diploma in a Commercial Discipline or equivalent 
• Degree or Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management will be an added 
• advantage
• Computer Literate Advanced (MS Office, Advanced Excel Formulas. Business  
• Objects, or Similar) 
• 3 to 5 years Personal Lines Insurance experience will be an added advantage.
• Previous Portfolio/Data Analysis experience 
• Relevant Short-Term Insurance Industry Experience
