Santam Risk Services (Online broker) has a position available for an Online Broker underwriting Consultant who will based in Parktown.  

Job Description

To ensure profitable growth through applying profitable underwriting principles.  Utilise available resources to improve or implement new underwriting practises on claimants.  He/she will get involved with referral underwriting decisions and has to be knowledgeable and experienced to provide Insurance Consultants and brokers with creative and innovative solutions.  

Principle Accountabilities

• Do Policy screenings and manage portfolios in accordance with company policy.
• Underwriting of new and existing risks to obtain profitable growth.
• Handle referrals and the underwriting thereof.
• Technical underwriting advice, renewals, broker’s appointments
• Retaining brokers and direct renewals using retentions and persuasive skills to identify the client’s needs. 
• Create save opportunities by utilizing proactive retention and persuasive skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12
• FAIS requirement: 150 credits with regards to Personal Lines Underwriting (NQF level 4)
• Computer literate (MS Office package) and Internet
• At least 3 years current experience with regards to Personal Lines Short term insurance 
• RE Qualification 
• Clear track record in terms of adherence to Quality standard and Compliance

Knowledge

• Relevant system knowledge:  Policy Centre and call centre applications 
• Thorough knowledge of Personal Lines underwriting
