What will you do?

We have a position available for an Underwriting Analyst who will be based either in Cape Town (Head Office) or in our Johannesburg Offices (Alice Lane, Sandton) within our SCS Underwriting Analytics team.

What will make you successful in this role?

Building management dashboards and reports on insurance performance and growth

Assist with reporting and process automation

Report writing and presentations.

Extract data from disparate datasets including SQL databases

Data wrangling

Extracting of data to support business activities

Performance analysis of data and identification of corrective actions.

Evaluate renewal outputs and monitor results.

Analyse and build statistical models for various sets of data on regular basis to assist in determining business trends.

Pro-actively identifies phenomena to be tested and explored.

Monitor results of all action plans implemented.

Analytical support to internal divisions (SCS Underwriting and Pricing).

Manage data cleansing and data quality control.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial or Business Science or a similar field of study
2 to 3 years’ general insurance experience will be an advantage.

Experience with reporting tools (SAS, Python Power BI, tableau, Qliksense & Qlikview, Cognos or similar)
Advanced Computer Literacy (MS Office).

Strong analytical capability is a requirement.

Reconciliation of financial extracts to financial data

Experience with actuarial exposure datasets advantageous

Experience in production of dataflows and dashboards
