An opportunity has become available for a Business Development Manager  within Santam Segment Solutions Agriculture & Education , to be based at Gauteng or Western Cape.

The successful candidate will be responsible to drive and deliver Santam’s strategy within this high performance, fast growth environment in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Drive and deliver Santam’s strategy within Segment Solutions – Agriculture & Education segment
  • Collaborate and engage with all stakeholders and business owners for the purpose of business development and management
  • Build relationships and develop market presence with designated key role players, industry leaders, business partners.
  • Aligning the business strategy with internal and external stakeholders
  • Business Development support to the regions, collaboration with Underwriting, and Survey departments
  • Unlock business opportunities with organized organizations
  • Attend to consumer education and product development by focusing on product knowledge as key principles towards growth
  • Assist in formulating, implementing and coordinating the marketing strategy initiative.
  • Provide strategic input for relevant business area when required.
  • Bring your value and knowledge to extend us into new opportunities.
  • Provide technical training to all stakeholders.
  • Execute technical marketing to all stakeholders.
  • Write articles and conduct media interviews.
  • Effective management of the business unit’s budget (including marketing budget) and its resources. Detailed understanding of the financial drivers of a business is key.
  • Compile monthly financial reports on the Agri & Educational segment for reporting including to Heads of the business. 

Qualification and Experience

 

  • Matric Qualification /Grade 12
  • Short Term Insurance related qualification
  • Minimum of 2 years in Business development
  • 5 years Commercial Lines and Agri Experience
  • Marketing experience (Advantage)

Knowledge and Skills

 

IT

  • MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)


Business

 

  • Technical Product knowledge in respect of both Agriculture and Commercial Short-Term Insurance
  • Good understanding of all new developments within agriculture and the insurance needs of our farmers
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of Santam Niche Products
  • Knowledge of and experience in financial services sales and advice
  • Focusing on the relationship with all agricultural stakeholders
  • Understanding of Compliance requirements in on-boarding, training and vesting of new Short Term Insurance advisers.  
  • Financial and commercial acumen
