An exciting career opportunity exists within the Quality and Knowledge Management Department for a QA Motor: Claims Evaluator, based in Centurion.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The QA Motor Claims Evaluator is responsible for conducting quality assurance evaluations across Motor claims to support operational excellence, reduce claims leakage, and ensure alignment with Santam’s quality, governance, and service standards. This role also provides independent assurance, identifies risks, and delivers insights that strengthen indemnification processes, supplier performance, and service delivery
Key Responsibilities
• Perform quality evaluations (Operational Claims Evaluations (OCE), Technical Quality Evaluations (TQE), Work in Progress Reviews (WIP), Closed File Reviews (CFR)).
• Validate technical decisions, repair authorisations, costings, and documentation.
• Identify deviations from policy, SLAs, and supplier agreements.
• Inspect repairs for correct workmanship and adherence to the approved scope.
• Engage suppliers to address non-compliance and reduce leakage.
• Analyse costing, parts pricing, and labour rates for financial accuracy.
• Produce clear QA reports, insights, and recommendations.
• Support continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and compliance initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve issues.
• Undertake extensive travel to MBRs, suppliers, and
client sites for on‑site evaluations, technical inspections, and quality assurance activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications
• National Senior Certificate (Matric).
• Insurance-related qualification (e.g., Higher Certificate in Short-Term Insurance).
• Recognised QA related training (e.g., Total Quality Management, Quality Assurance).
• Technical qualifications in Motor Body Repair, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical or Auto Electrical disciplines, Vehicle Damage Assessment (VDA), or equivalent industry experience within the motor repair and claims environment.

Minimum Experience Requirements
• 3+ years’ experience in Motor Assessing, Motor Body Repair, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical/Auto-Electrical diagnosis, or related automotive technical fields, providing a solid technical foundation.
AND
• 3+ years’ experience in Motor Assessing or Motor Claims Evaluation, demonstrating:
o Strong technical proficiency in interpreting vehicle damage, repair methods, structural alignment, chassis integrity, and component failure
o Proven capability in evaluating repair methodologies, parts/paint labour costings, repair vs replace decisions, and full repair scope validation
o Strong analytical judgement with accurate decision-making on technical assessments and indemnification outcomes
o Established exposure to quality assurance, technical audits, compliance reviews, or governance-driven evaluation within a motor claims environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The ideal candidate should bring a solid technical background in Motor Claims, with strong capability to interpret complex vehicle damage reports, repair assessments, and detailed costings, including labour, parts, and repair methodologies. Should demonstrate proficiency in Quality Assurance practices, with high levels of accuracy, analytical depth, and sound technical judgement. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills enable them to manage challenging supplier or stakeholder conversations professionally while maintaining constructive relationships. Should be resilient, solutions‑focused, and able to think strategically - proactively identifying risks, preventing leakage, and contributing to continuous improvement, enhanced quality, and sustainable operational excellence across the motor claims value chain.
