Underwriting Administrator - Corporate

What will you do?

We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Administrator within Santam Specialist Solutions.

What will make you successful in this role?

The primary responsibility of this role is policy administration, which includes managing new business, processing endorsements (providing terms on existing policies), handling finance-related queries, and liaising with Corporate Brokers and other internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conversions of quotes into Policies
• Endorsements
• Provide terms on existing policies
• Understand Insurance Principles and Business Retention on existing policies
• Dealing with other areas within Santam Engineering
• Liaising with Corporate brokers.
• Manage/monitor incoming/outgoing mail
• Must be able to adhere to deadlines and operating standards and requirements
• Good understanding of the insurance industry market and the terminology used.
• Able to evaluate information from a variety of sources and solve problems.
• Solving queries on instructions between various departments
• Accurate loading of quotations
• Broker information consolidation
• Renewal preparation monthly

Education & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of insurance experience within an underwriting capacity.
• Non-Negotiable: Must have at least 2 years of underwriting/admin short-term Engineering insurance experience within a Corporate Broker environment.
• Matric
• A BCom or Engineering Degree or a construction/engineering-related diploma will be beneficial
• Preferably RE5
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance legislation
• Must have experience with insurance operating systems
