Career Opportunity
Santam Namibia is looking for an ambitious and energetic Business Development Officer who will be based in Windhoek, Namibia. The aim of this position is to drive sustainable financial growth through business development opportunities including Intermediary, Direct and Referral Partners while forging strong relationships with clients.
What will make you successful in this role?
The candidate will be expected to perform (but not limited to) the following duties:
- Responsible for the relationships with Intermediaries, Referral, and other Business Partners;
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs;
- Ability to think strategically and create new opportunities, as well as the operational understanding to ensure delivery on those opportunities to the benefit of the wider Santam Namibia business;
- Set and drive a high-performance culture;
- Build strategic and operational alliances with business units within Santam Namibia and the wider Group;
- Keep all stakeholders abreast of legislative changes by Regulatory bodies and the opportunities they may bring in the Partner space for Santam Namibia;
- Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
Qualifications and Experince
- Minimum of 22 points in Grade 11 (new curriculum) or 12 (old curriculum);
- Degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business or Commerce;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience at a Middle Management level in a Business Development and/or Sales related role;
- Experience in a Direct Environment will be preferential;
- Experience in management of relationships with Referral Partners;
- Ability to communicate effectively in both Afrikaans and English.
Foreign qualifications must be submitted with an evaluation report from the Namibia Qualification Authority (NQA).
Training and Development Pathway
Santam Namibia offers a structured 18–24 month internship and grooming programme designed to equip the successful candidate with the technical, operational, and relationship management capabilities required for this role. During this period, the incumbent will work under guidance and supervision before transitioning to operate independently.
